TV show description:
In this family-centered sitcom, Steve Patterson (Bob Saget ) may look like the typical husband and father but he isn’t exactly Robert Young from Father Knows Best. He’s a grumpy guy who’s become pretty cynical about his lot in life.

Why do kids’ classroom projects inevitably become the parents’ responsibility? How does exchanging emergency keys with a neighbor result in house sitting? Why does the lawnmower always run out of gas when the yard work’s only half done? Steve tries his best to have a good attitude but what outwardly appears to be the ideal suburban life just doesn’t feel that way on the inside.

Steve’s been married to Anne (Cynthia Stevenson) for 20 years. She’s a no-nonsense gal who loves him despite his cranky disposition. Though the two have their disagreements, he still finds it in his heart to occasionally show her some affection. Not surprisingly, their two children — high-schooler Henry (Jared Kusnitz) and third-grader Courtney (G. Hannelius) — are more responsible and well-behaved than their dad.

The Pattersons live next door to Onno (Dan Cortese), a nice guy and strip club owner with a cool house. Steve’s best friend is Dr. Jim (Jere Burns), a sleazy guy who makes his cranky pal look good by comparison. Monica (Lorna Scott) is another neighbor who’s a sarcastic and longtime nemesis of Steve’s — just what he needs.
