Deep in the Bible belt, amid cattle, tornadoes and pump jacks, Jennifer Welch, Josh Welch, Lee Murphy, and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan proudly embrace – but unabashedly stand out from – their idyllic hometown. No feelings are spared when it comes to approaching burning issues, amongst themselves or with the world at large. Through their characteristic off-kilter perspective, they find humor confronting the white-picket-fence-meets-reality facts of life. Challenging the conventions of conservative society and showing an alternative, outrageous side to the tony enclave of Nichols Hills, their unique friendships hilariously reveal that the daily triumphs and struggles of small-city life are more wild, fun and memorable than meets the eye.

Meet the friends:

Jennifer Welch

Jennifer Welch is an established commercial and residential interior designer. Born in Dallas, Texas, she moved to Oklahoma City when she was seven. Jennifer grew up on a ranch, where her father raised and trained racing pigeons (she can still catch a pigeon with her bare hands). She is often referred to as “The Sheriff” among her friends because of her natural tendency to take charge and get things done. Her house is also referred to as “headquarters” as a nod to the amount of time she and her girlfriends have spent in her living room, supporting each other through the best and worst periods in their lives. Jennifer is divorced from Josh Welch, although the couple is trying to work it out for themselves and also for their two children, Dylan (14) and Roman (10).

Josh Welch

Josh Welch was born in Paris, Texas, but has spent nearly his entire life in Oklahoma City. He is divorced from Jennifer Welch, who he admits forced him to bring his “A” game in order to first grab her attention, being a smooth 50 pounds overweight at the time. After they married, Josh became a top criminal defense attorney in Oklahoma City. He met his good friend, Angie “Pumps” Sullivan, while attending law school in his early 20s and she eventually started working for him. During the course of Josh and Jennifer’s marriage, Josh struggled with addiction. Amidst such tough times, he resigned from practicing law and he and Jennifer divorced. Josh has worked hard to get back to his family and make amends. Today, he is over a year and a half sober and they both agree that he is an amazing father. Maintaining his sense of humor through it all, Josh is not afraid to push his boundaries with Jennifer, Pumps, and Lee.

Angie “Pumps” Sullivan

Angie “Pumps” Sullivan was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but raised in Oklahoma City where she was crowned Homecoming Queen in high school. She attended The University of Oklahoma, where she got her undergraduate degree in elementary education, but quickly realized that working with children was not for her. She decided to attend law school, where she met Josh Welch and eventually worked for him many years later. Their 23-year friendship is the longest-standing in the group, but when Pumps hired Jennifer Welch as her interior designer, they became fast friends from the moment she first stepped into her home. Jennifer lovingly dubbed her “Angelina Pumpkintina” and the name stuck. Pumps currently practices marriage and family law and shares three kids – Sam (16), Emily (14) and Luke (11) – with her ex-husband.

Lee Murphy

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Lee was a competitive swimmer on the national level and her high school’s mascot. She left home to attend college in Charlottesville at The University of Virginia. Though she spent her 20s living in San Francisco and Boston, Lee is extremely close with her family and knew she wanted to raise her children in her hometown. She made the move back to Oklahoma City after her first son was born in 2004 and gave birth to twin boys two years later. Lee loves raising her boys and makes it a point to take them on as many adventures as possible. She has built a rewarding career in medical device sales and, being divorced, has attempted to navigate the world of online dating. The Welch household is her home away from home.
