Talkshow with Spike Feresten debuted on September 16, 2006 and stars Feresten, a former writer of shows like Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons. The program is filled with recurring sketches and light-hearted talks with various celebrities.
The network had given a test run of hour-long versions of Feresten’s show at 11pm in January and February of this year but apparently that wasn’t much of a success.
In March, FOX announced plans to fill the 11pm timeslot and replace long-running MADtv with a new talk show starring comedian Wanda Sykes. The as-yet-untitled Sykes show will air at 11pm and include Sykes’ commentary on hot-button topics, panel discussions with recurring personalities and additional segments shot outside the studio.
It’s unknown what the network intends to do with the midnight-12:30am slot but it won’t be filled with Feresten’s show. Feresten’s series finale is expected to air on May 16th. Previously announced guests are Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim.
It’s unknown if the show has already been recorded or if the host will have an opportunity to end the series.
