Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: FOX Renews Sci-fi Show for Season Two — Changes Ahead?

To no surprise (especially after this news leaked out a few weeks ago), FOX has renewed their freshman sci-fi series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

The show will return in the fall and will likely switch timeslots to avoid going head to head with NBC’s Heroes. Programming execs have been discussing possible scheduling scenarios with advertisers and have been developing several other high-tech adventure series that could be paired up with Sarah Connor Chronicles. Possible partners include Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse and Fringe from J.J. Abrams.

Though the series hasn’t been a huge ratings winner, it’s apparently been popular enough to warrant FOX taking the chance on a renewal. The premiere episode attracted 10 million in the all-important 18-49 demographic but fell significantly after that — dropping below three million.

The network has opted to purchase a conservative 13 episode order for season two but may order nine more so they can tie in to the release of the fourth Terminator movie next May.

The network has likely asked the producers for some changes to help bump up the show’s fall ratings. Brian Austin Green has already been added as a series regular. But, if the numbers don’t improve, it’s unlikely that the Terminator TV show will “be back” for season three. Stay tuned!
