The Big Bang Theory: Jim Parsons Talks About How CBS TV Show Could End

In addition to offering the content from the print edition of Variety, the Hollywood industry publication hosts numerous blogs as well. One of the most interesting blogs is called Season Pass where editors discuss TV show news, series they enjoy, and other small-screen related subjects (including a nice mention of this site). They’ve also been having question and answer sessions with some of their favorite people working in television today. Kathy Lyford, Variety’s managing editor, recently interviewed the talented Jim Parsons from CBS’ popular The Big Bang Theory TV show.

The Big Bang Theory centers around a foursome of brilliant yet socially-awkward scientists and their female friend. Egotistical Sheldon Cooper (Parsons) and insecure Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) are roommates and live across the hall from Leonard’s crush, an aspiring actress named Penny (Kaley Cuoco). The roommates’ friends and coworkers are ladiesman-wannabe Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), an Indian immigrant who’s so painfully shy around ladies that he can’t even speak to them.

The sitcom debuted on September 24, 2007 and ended up becoming one of CBS’s few new hits last season. Big Bang has become well-known for its quick-paced, geeky allusions and continues to expand its audience on Monday nights.

Lyford interviewed the amiable Parsons and solicited questions from her readers beforehand. She used one that I submitted and, though the series is in no danger of being cancelled any time soon, I wondered how Parsons might respond if asked for his input on how to end the series. Take a look:

To see Parsons answer many more questions or to read other interesting interviews, head on over to the Season Pass blog. You’ll be glad that you did. Stay tuned!
