In delivering the news to attendees at the current TCA press tour, Nevins noted that the show “has always required a delicate touch and I can’t think of three more talented and skillful people than Darlene Hunt, Jenny Bicks and the brilliant Laura Linney to handle this tricky subject matter.”
Season three of The Big C finished airing on June 17th. After two seasons of 13 episodes each, Showtime gave Big C just a 10 installment order for season three. That move led some to suspect that the end was near.
Of the third season ending, executive producer Elizabeth Bick recently told THR, “We would not be happy if this is the ending… I think we owe our audience and ourselves the chance to see this through. We still have a lot more story to tell.”
There’s no word yet on when the shortened fourth season will air.
Will Cathy (Laura Linney) succumb to her illness for the end of the show? Nevins shared, “I wouldn’t assume anything about how its going to end… They have a very interesting, novel and form-breaking way to handle where the show is going.”
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Big C is ending or do you think it’s time for the show to end? How do you think the series should conclude?
