The Dukes of Hazzard: Bo Sells the General Lee

Things must be tough in old Hazzard County. Maybe Boss Hogg is trying to foreclose on the old Duke Farm once again. Why else would Bo Duke be selling the family speedster, the General Lee?

Well actually, it’s John Schneider who played Bo on the 1979-85 CBS series The Dukes of Hazzard and two reunion movies. And he’s not broke, he’s just trying to finance his latest project by selling this very large collectible from his private collection.

As you might have guessed, there were several General Lees used in the filming of the Dukes series and reunions. Because of the high-flying stunts, I’m sure many ended up on the Hazzard County scrap heap. The first General Lee was actually rescued from a Georgia junkyard in 2001 and subsequently restored.

But this particular 1969 Dodge Charger up for auction is also special. It was built by Schneider himself. The car appeared in the last Dukes reunion movie to feature the original cast — Dukes Go to Hollywood — and was signed under the hood by all of the surviving original cast and crewmembers. The car was also seen on many TV shows, has been featured in several charity events and has been driven by Schneider in various races. Most recently, the actor drove it in his self-produced picture Collier & Co, Hot Pursuit.

Granted, the cost is pretty steep at a current auction price of $505,100. But if you’ve made plenty of cash running moonshine or an ethical financial endeavor, feel free to speed on over to Ebay. The auction ends on May 4th. Stay tuned!
