The first season of The Gifted didn’t do very well in the ratings but it was renewed anyway. Will the numbers improve this time around? Will The Gifted be cancelled by FOX or is more likely to be renewed because of the upcoming Disney merger? Stay tuned. **Status update below.
A sci-fi superhero drama, The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Skyler Samuels, and Grace Byers. Based on a Marvel Comics alternate timeline, the show follows two ordinary parents with mutant children who go on the run from the government and join an underground community of mutants. In season two, several mutants have left the group to join the Inner Circle and the two groups conflict due to having very extreme and different ideologies.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The first season of The Gifted averaged a 1.01 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.31 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
