The Jay Leno Show

Network: NBC
Episodes: 95 (hour)
Seasons: One

TV show dates: September 14, 2009 — February 9, 2010
Series status: Cancelled

Performers include: Jay Leno (host), Kevin Eubanks (bandleader), and Wally Wingert (announcer).

TV show description:
This fives-times-a-week series is a direct offshoot of Leno’s previous late night talk show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Conan O’Brien stepped into Leno’s shoes on The Tonight Show, and Leno was then moved into primetime with this show.

Leno starts the show off just as he did on The Tonight Show, with a monologue. He invites one or two celebrities as guests, usually interviewing one and doing a funny bit or skit with the other. Musical segments are included as well, though less frequently. Occasionally it’s multiple acts performing together.

Parts of the show are also reserved for comedy bits. Some of these segments include old favorites from The Tonight Show, such as “funny headlines” and “Jaywalking,” but some new comedy bits have been created as well.

New segments include trying to set records racing an electric Ford Focus in the “Green Car Challenge,” or answering 10 rapid-fire questions in “10@10.” Other comedy portions include pre-taped segments with comedians such as D. L. Hughley, Dan Finnerty, or Jim Norton, and “Stories Not Good Enough for Nightly News” with NBC anchorman Brian Williams.

Series Finale:
