The Joy of Painting: Twitch Hosts Bob Ross Series Marathon

Joy of Painting

The Joy of Painting, starring artist Bob Ross, was a long-running educational television series, which was syndicated — most probably — to a PBS station near you, and can still be found in reruns, today. The Joy of Painting ran from January 11, 1983, until it was cancelled after its final May 17, 1994 episode. Now Twitch is running a nine-day series marathon, starting today.

The Joy of Painting‘s gentle, sweet-natured Ross was known for his talent, wet-on-wet oil technique, and especially for his corny yet sincere exclamations as he painted “happy little trees,” and the like. Ross passed away on July 4, 1995, with complications from lymphoma. Scroll down for marathon details.

Robert Norman “Bob” Ross was an American painter, art instructor, and television host. He was best known as the creator and host of The Joy of Painting, a television program that aired on PBS in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
