The Monkees: TV Show Cast Reunites for 50th Anniversary Tour, Album

The Monkees

The Monkees first arrived on television on NBC in 1966, and the remaining living band members are ready to share new music and hit the road for the show’s 50th anniversary. This will be the first time the group has worked together since the death of Davy Jones in 2012.

The Monkees will release their first album in 20 years. The album, titled “Good Times,” will include songs written by Michael Nesmith. Peter Tork will also contribute songs to the album. According to Variety, several others will have their talents featured on the album, including Rivers Cuomo from Weezer, Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie, Andy Partridge from XTC and Zach Schwartz from Rogue Wave.

The album is set for release on June 10. Tork and Micky Dolenz will also take the new music on tour. Nesmith will not join them. The 31 city tour will hit venues this summer. The first date is set for June 1, and the tour will continue through September.
