The cable channel is happy with The Newsroom but the real issue with a third season is timing. He said, “Honestly, the conversation with Aaron [Sorkin] at this point are all about schedule. He has some other commitments he’s trying to fit in.”
Lombardo noted that, “The [ratings] numbers this year are surpassing the numbers last year, and not just the aggragate numbers. We’re in the passionate engagement game, where the base is is really important to us.”
Revolving around a fictional cable news show, The Newsroom stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, John Gallagher Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn, and Sam Waterston.
Season two is currently running and the initial airings of the first two episodes have averaged 2.05 million viewers. Last season averaged 1.95 million.
What do you think? Are you watching The Newsroom? Do you think the series should be renewed, or cancelled to make way for something else? Would you watch a third season?
