The Nine: The Castmembers Move On

Because ABC hasn’t publicly cancelled The Nine, some fans have been holding onto the hope that it might return for a second season. The similarly ratings-challenged Six Degrees is still holding on — it only recently wrapped production, is returning on March 23rd and may actually be renewed for another season.

Well, casting news this week seems to indicate that, officially or unofficially, The Nine is finished. It would seem that the castmembers have been released from their Nine contracts since the network recently announced that two of the key series actors have been cast in new ABC projects.

Scott Wolf will star in an as-yet-untitled sitcom as the leader of the “Law Dogs,” a group of associates trying to make partner in a top law firm.

Tim Daly will guest-star in the upcoming two-hour episode of Grey’s Anatomy that will act as a pilot for the proposed Kate Walsh spin-off series. If the episode is well received, Daly will be the spin-off series’ McDreamy-like character. Also in the cast is former ABC Day Break star Taye Diggs.

Will we at least get to see the six unaired episodes of The Nine? In January, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPhearson said that the remaining episodes may still air this season. As time goes on, that’s looking more and more unlikely but we’ll keep you posted if that changes. Stay tuned!
