The Peripheral is finally coming to Amazon. The streaming service has ordered the series from Scott B. Smith, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Amazon first expressed interest in the work in 2018, so the series has had a long journey to get to this point. The series will be produced by Amazon Studios and Warner Brothers Television.
Per Deadline, The Peripheral is based on the novel by William Gibson, and it tells the story of “Flynne Fisher, a woman trying to hold together the pieces of her broken family in a forgotten corner of tomorrow’s America. Flynne is smart, ambitious, and doomed. She has no future. Until the future comes calling for her. The Peripheral is master storyteller William Gibson’s dazzling, hallucinatory glimpse into the fate of mankind — and what lies beyond.”
No word yet on when the series will arrive on Prime Video or start production. A cast has also not been announced for the series yet.
The streaming service is excited to bring the thriller to their service though. Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, said the following:
“We’re thrilled to announce The Peripheral as our first project with Jonah, Lisa, Athena and their talented team at Kilter Films. This story calls for a masterful level of talent to bring acclaimed author William Gibson’s science fiction thriller to life. We are excited to partner with Warner Bros. Television, Oscar-nominated writer Scott B. Smith and Vincenzo Natali in bringing this fantastic new series to our global Prime Video customers.”
What do you think? Have you read the novel by William Gibson? Will you The Peripheral on Amazon when it arrives?
