TV show description:
This series follows a family of Irish con artists, Travellers from rural Louisiana. As the story begins, Dahlia Malloy (Minnie Driver) has just been paroled after a two-year stint in prison. She’s unpredictable and erratic — behavior that’s exacerbated by the fact that she’s become a drug addict while in jail. In her absence, grifter Wayne (Eddie Izzard) and their children have been continuing to con their way across the country.
The Malloy children are Cael, Di Di, and Sam. Cael (Noel Fisher) is the eldest, both quiet and intelligent, and closest with his mother. He’s adept at pulling petty cash register scams, picking locks, making fake IDs, stealing cars, disabling alarms, and faking epileptic seizures as needed. Middle child Di Di (Shannon Marie Woodward) is also crafty, talented in cons and thievery, and is closer with her father. Meanwhile, Sam (Adrian Mitchell) is the youngest of the con artists, is very artistic, and frequently dresses in girl’s clothing.
The life of the Malloy family takes a radical change when an unfortunate auto accident provides them with the opportunity to assume the identity of a deceased and wealthy family. Masquerading as the “H. Douglas and Cherien Rich”family, they take their place in the wealthy neighborhood of Eden Falls.
Wayne cons his way into a job as an attorney for Panco, a prominent land-developing company, and the Malloys find their new suburban life even more strange than their previous way of life. The family’s new life is constantly in jeopardy of being exposed. One of the biggest threats comes when Dahlia’s menacing cousin, fellow Traveller Dale Malloy (Todd Stashwick), shows up and wants a piece of their new life.
