Fans don’t have to worry that The Simpsons will be cancelled anytime too soon. Above and beyond (and okay, because of) its strong Nielsen ratings, FOX renewed its top scripted comedy series through season 30, back in November of 2016. Could that be the end of this long-running TV series? Will The Simpsons be cancelled or renewed beyond its 30th season? Stay tuned.
An animated FOX sitcom, featuring the vocal talents of Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Harry Shearer, and Hank Azaria, The Simpsons comes from creator Matt Groening. The ageless yellow family continues to stir up the Springfield citizenry in this satirical sketch of small town Middle America.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The 28th season of The Simpsons on FOX averaged a 1.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.146 million total viewers It was up over season 27, by 1.54% and 3.67%, respectively.
