The Upshaws: Netflix Orders Family Comedy Series from Mike Epps and Wanda Sykes

Netflix is all about family. The streaming service just announced they’ve ordered a new TV show called The Upshaws.

From Mike Epps and Wanda Sykes, the comedy series “centers on a working-class African American family in Indiana struggling to make it work and make it right without the blueprints to do it.”

Both Epps and Sykes will star in and executive produce The Upshaws. Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date, but you can read more info below:

Regina Hicks set as showrunner and executive producer

Mike Epps and Wanda Sykes are set to star in the new comedy series, The Upshaws. Mike and Wanda bring their distinct voices to this multi-camera comedy that centers on a working-class Africian American family in Indiana struggling to make it work and make it right without the blueprints to do it.

Wanda Sykes (Wanda Sykes: Not Normal) will star, executive produce, and serve as co-showrunner. Sykes is a 2019 Emmy nominee for ‘variety special’ and ‘writing for a variety special’ on Wanda Sykes: Not Normal.

Mike Epps (Dolemite is My Name, Only One Mike) will star and executive produce.

Regina Hicks (The LWord, Generations Q, Central Park, Insecure) will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

Dan Spilo (Sunnyside) will serve as an executive producer.

Page Hurwitz (Wanda Sykes; Not Normal, Tiffany Haddish Presents They Ready) will serve as an executive producer. She is a 2019 Emmy nominee for Wanda Sykes: Not Normal.

Niles Kirchner (Only One Mike) will serve as an executive producer.”
