The X-Files: FOX Wants to Order a New Season Now, Chris Carter Ready

X-Files

The X-Files will return to FOX later tonight, but could fans of the series see even more of The X-Files after this six-episode revival airs?

It is possible. The people involved with the series and at FOX are ready to add even more to The X-Files franchise right now. There is a problem though. That problem is scheduling, and that has been brought up several times by members of the cast and Chris Carter during the promotion for this X-Files revival.

In an interview with TV Guide, Chris Carter has made it clear that he is always ready to do more episodes. He has ideas for more episodes. In fact, he wrote a seventh episode for this revival, but there wasn’t enough time to put it together and include it. To TV Guide, he said:

“I’ll tell you, I think there are an endless number of X-Files stories to tell. Every day I write down a new idea so if there are to be more, I’ve got a jump on it.”

Is more really possible? FOX would also “jump on it” if scheduling was not such an issue for all of the parties involved. According to Variety, Dana Walden, the woman in charge at FOX, said the following about the potential more X-Files:

“The good news for us is that we own the show. I think we’ll see a great turnout within a seven-day window. But if viewers watch it beyond that, on whatever platform it’s available, that’s all good news. We would commit to new episodes right now, today, in advance of our launch. We are excited creatively by what we’ve seen. These episodes are incredibly consistent with the original series.”

However, it is David Duchovny that addressed the scheduling issues for him and his co-star, Gillian Anderson. He said:

“Gillian and I have talked about (doing more episodes), and then we just stop because we get to 2023 and we still haven’t found a date we can do it. It’s like, ‘Let’s just wait and see what happens after this,’ and then we can start to talk seriously about whether we can make it work again.”

For now, fans can enjoy the return of The X-Files with six brand new episodes. Do you plan to watch The X-Files later tonight? Tell us what you think.
