The X-Files will return to FOX on Sunday night, and the buzz surrounding the series is only rising as the week continues on.
There are some new faces joining David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson for the revival of the series. One of those new faces is Joel McHale, and Chris Carter has now revealed why he hired the actor for the return of The X-Files.
It was a past performance that caught Carter’s eye. According to The Washington Post, he said:
“I cast Joel after seeing his appearance at the White House Correspondents dinner, which was hilarious. He had exactly the quality I was looking for.”
McHale will play a conservative talk show host on the revival of The X-Files, and a romance has been teased for him and Scully.
