The X-Files wrapped its revival on FOX on Monday night, and now some fans are wondering if there is a spin-off in the works.
The last two episodes of the revival introduced a new pair of agents that were very similar to Mulder and Scully at the start of the FOX series, but could these two characters help FOX launch a new X-Files?
Chris Carter addressed that question in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and a spin-off is not in the works at this time. He said:
“I really love those guys. They’re terrific actors, and excellent to work with. It would be nice to include them. But, at the same time, we didn’t make series deals with them. I can’t imagine they’re not going to be scooped up and be somewhat unavailable to us. It will just be practical about how we’re able to work with them in the future.”
Carter has made it clear that FOX wants more from The X-Files, and he said Duchovny is up for more, and Anderson might be up for more. It becomes a matter of fitting time to produce another season that is the issue.
