Top Gear USA: History Confirms Cancellation; BBCW to Shop Series

Top Gear US TV show on History: season 6 canceled, no season 7?

(History.)

Last night, we reported the Top Gear (US)  TV show had been cancelled after six seasons on History. Today, History confirmed the cancellation to Deadline, saying, “We’d like to thank the entire Top Gear team for five [sic] great seasons on History, however we have decided not to order additional seasons for the network.” Top Gear (US) is hosted by Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara, and Rutledge Wood, the latter of whom broke the story on social media.

According to the report, BBC Worldwide, which produces Top Gear (US), intends to shop the series elsewhere and issued a statement reading, “History treated Top Gear USA with great care, and the show had a solid five-season contractual run with the network. We are fully committed to the hugely successful Top Gear brand — known all over the world — and have begun exploring new opportunities for the series in the U.S.” The Top Gear (US) TV series finale airs tonight, on History, at 9:00pm ET/PT.

Check out how Rutledge Wood broke the news that History would not order a seventh season of Top Gear (US), here.
