Training Day: Bill Paxton Cast as Lead for CBS Pilot

Big Love

Training Day, based off the Denzel Washington film, is in the works as a pilot for CBS, and the potential series has been creating a lot of buzz in recent week. TV Series Finale recently reported that the series would flip the circumstances in the film and have a corrupt white cop deal with an African-American rookie.

The role of the older white cop has now been cast. Bill Paxton will return to television as a series regular for Training Day, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actor starred on Big Love for HBO during its run.

The news outlet shared more about Paxton’s role:

“Paxton will make his broadcast series regular debut and star as Frank Rourke, a veteran LAPD cop who heads up the Special Investigation Section (SIS), a unit that goes after the worst of the worst. He lives by the law of the jungle and believes that real courage is the will to chase the bad guys where the law won’t. Needless to say, Frank isn’t too keen to be babysitting a new trainee, Kyle Craig (uncast).”

Are you a fan of Bill Paxton? Does his casting make you more likely to watch Training Day if CBS moves forward with the series? Tell us what you think.
