CBS is going to the movies. According to Variety, the network has ordered a pilot based on the 2001 film Training Day.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the movie starred Denzel Washington as a corrupt police officer who takes a young cop (Ethan Hawke) under his wing.
From Will Beall, Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, the series will follow up on the film 15 years later and center on a young African-American police officer who “is partnered with a seasoned, morally ambiguous Caucasian detective.”
Fuqua is attached to direct the pilot and will serve as an executive producer.
This isn’t the only film spin-off series in the works. Earlier, we reported that NBC had ordered a pilot based on the 1999 film Cruel Intentions.
