Training Day: Ethan Hawke Could Return for CBS TV Series Pilot

Training Day

Yesterday, we reported that CBS had formally ordered a series pilot based on the 2001 film Training Day. Now, Deadline is reporting that one of the film’s original stars, Ethan Hawke, may return for the show.

Hawke played young cop Jake Hoyt opposite Denzel Washington’s Detective Alonzo Harris in the movie.

According to Deadline, Hawke has been asked to reprise his role as Hoyt for the new TV series. The film’s director, Antoine Fuqua, is already attached to the project as well as Jerry Bruckheimer.

The new series will follow up on the film 15 years later and center on a young African American cop who is taken under the wing of a corrupt, older white cop—the reverse of the film’s original premise. Hawke’s role would be as a supporting or recurring character.

The actor has yet to announce whether or not he will appear on the CBS series.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the film Training Day? Would you like to see Ethan Hawke reprise his character?
