The Spectacular Spider-Man — The latest incarnation of the web-slinger’s adventures started off with a bang. Last Saturday’s premiere episode delivered this season’s highest household ratings (1.1/3) for the Kids’ WB! Saturday morning lineup. Spidey’s debut numbers represent a 20% audience increase over the same week last year.
Friday Night Lights — There’s still no official word on a third season for the NBC drama but Universal Media Studios (who produces the series) remains positive about the previously leaked DirecTV deal. UMS rep Jessica Nevarez told the Chicago Tribune, “It is still too premature for us to comment on any business negotiations in regards to FNL. We are very, very optimistic and hope to have good news to share with everyone soon.”
The X-Files — In Vancouver, the as-yet-untitled sequel movie has wrapped up filming. As you might expect, the production had been under tight scrutiny by the paparazzi. Last week, photos of Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) kissing popped up online but Duchovny maintains the scene was staged for the spys’ benefit. The film’s scheduled to hit theaters on July 25th.
Prison Break — Though FOX hasn’t made an official announcement, it seems Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) will be evading the law for another year. While vacationing in Israel, Miller told reporters that he’ll start filming fourth season episodes by the end of the month. Production is scheduled to move from Northern Texas to Los Angeles to accommodate a new story angle cooked up by the writers. A spin-off series, tentatively called Prison Break: Cherry Hill, is being developed and would follow an upper-middle-class wife in a woman’s prison. Stay tuned!
