Twin Peaks: Series Revival Coming to Showtime in ‘Early 2017’

Twin Peaks

Earlier this week, we reported that Laura Dern will be joining Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival. Now, TVLine is reporting that the series will debut in early 2017.

The Showtime revival was originally set to premiere sometime in 2016.

At the winter TCA press tour, Showtime CEO David Nevins also revealed that series creator David Lynch has made significant progress on the new show:

I’m excited to share that [Twin Peaks creator] David Lynch is more than halfway through shooting schedule, and it will premiere in the first half of 2017.”

During the press tour, Showtime’s programming president Gary Levin also added that the new Twin Peaks will satisfy fans and entice new viewers:

It’s 25 years later. We visit a lot of the same characters, we have a lot of new characters introduced; in some cases, the next generation of characters from the existing series. It’s definitely a continuation of the story, and it embraces that 25 years have passed. David Lynch’s work is so singular, that I think you’re immediately transported when you see it. I think for those who know [the show], it’ll be fun. For those who don’t, your Twin Peaksvirginity will be an exciting thing to have.”

What do you think? Are you a Twin Peaks fan? Will you watch the revival?
