Underground: Season Two Ratings

Underground TV show on WGN America: season 2 ratings (canceled or renewed for season 3?)

Back in December of 2016, WGN America cancelled its fantasy drama, Salem, after three seasons. General Manager Matt Cherniss later said it had run its course and told the story it was meant to tell. Will the Underground TV show perform better or last as long or even longer? Cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.

Set in 1850s Georgia, Underground stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica De Gouw, Alano Miller, and Christopher Meloni. The WGN America cast also includes Christopher Backus, Marc Blucas, Reed Diamond, James Lafferty, Amirah Vann, Bokeem Woodbine, Aisha Hinds, Jasika Nicole, Michael Trotter, Jesse Luken, Sadie Stratton, and Robert Christopher Riley. In the second season, John Legend will guest star as abolitionist Frederick Douglass. A historical drama, Underground follows the heroes of the Underground Railroad who harnessed every bit of their wits, strength, and grit in order to escape slavery and live as free men and women.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

For comparisons: The first season of Underground averaged a 0.32 rating in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic and 993,000 viewers.
