Anne Rice is adapting her book series, The Vampire Chronicles, for TV. The first book in the series, Interview with the Vampire, was made into a 1994 film, starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater, and Kirsten Dunst.

In 2002, Queen of the Damned premiered, starring Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah. While it was largely based on book three of the same name, Queen of the Damned also contained some material from book two — The Vampire Lestat.

The Vampire Chronicles: the Complete Book Series

Rice is developing the TV series with her son, Christopher Rice, a novelist and columnist. The duo plans to follow the plot of the 12 books “faithfully.” She posted about it, on her Facebook fan page.

Rice is just kicking off her book tour for the twelfth installment in the series, Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis.

What do you think? Have you read The Vampire Chronicles? Can you see them working as a TV series? Sound off, in the comments.
