The 70-year-old martial arts expert and star of Walker, Texas Ranger became a Texas Ranger yesterday at a ceremony in the lone star state. Texas Governor Rick Perry presented the honorary status to both Norris and his younger brother, Aaron Norris. The latter is a 59-year-old stunt coordinator and was a producer on the series. The presentation was made at the Texas Rangers headquarters in Garland, Texas.
Of the honor, Chuck Norris wrote, “Both Aaron and I are greatly honored and humbled by our selection for this award. As Cordell Walker in our TV series Walker, Texas Ranger, and as executive producer along with my brother, we were aware from the outset of our obligation to show this legendary law enforcement body in its proper light. Being able to have this association with the Texas Rangers, along with the friends we have made within this law enforcement group during eight and a half season of production, has been a highlight of our professional careers. It has deepened our respect and appreciation for the incredible work and service they perform on a daily basis and the continued honor they bring to the state of Texas and the country.”
Walker, Texas Ranger ran for 203 episodes, from 1993 until 2001. Revolving around a tough Texas Ranger (Norris) who fights tireless to uphold the law and maintain the moral balance. Other series regulars include Clarence Gilyard, Sheree J. Wilson, Noble Willingham, Nia Peeples, and Judson Mills. A reunion movie, Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire, aired on CBS in 2005 but ended with a cliffhanger which has yet to be resolved.
