Wallander: Kenneth Branagh Says Goodbye and Thank You

Wallander TV show

The premiere for Wallander‘s fourth and final season aired last night, and star Kenneth Branagh recently said goodbye to the character in a Radio Times article and a few PBS videos.

Based on the books by Henning Mankell, the UK series centers on a philosophical  Swedish detective (Branagh). Sarah Smart, Richard McCabe, and Jeany Spark also star.

In his Radio Times article, Branagh discusses the legacy of the TV series and his relationship with the recently passed Mankell:

We made 12 television films from his books and talked regularly (aside from my father, he was the only person who ever called me Kenneth, not Ken). The last time I saw him was seven years later in 2014, once again we were having dinner, our Wallander was coming to an end, we were both a little sad about it, and more importantly he was living with cancer.”

The fourth and final season of Wallander continues on the BBC and on PBS (in the United States) through June 5th.
