Watters’ World: FOX News Specials Become Weekly Series

Watters' World TV show on FOX News: canceled or renewed?

There are some big changes at FOX News this week beyond Megyn Kelly’s departure. Deadline reports the network is promoting their monthly segment Watters’ World into a weekly program.

Based on Jesse Watters’ appearances on The O’Reilly Factor, the hour-long series will feature man-on-the-street interviews and “a rotating panel of commentators debating news of the day, as well as interviews with guests.”

This past October, Watters found himself in hot water over a Watters’ World segment in New York City’s Chinatown. During the piece, he asked a number of culturally insensitive questions that prompted the city’s mayor Bill de Blasio to tweet the following: “The vile, racist behavior of Fox’s Jesse Watters in Chinatown has no place in our city. @FoxNews – keep this guy off TV.” Watters responded by saying the interviews were meant to be “tongue-in-cheek.”

Despite the controversy, Watters thanked FOX and Bill O’Reilly for the new series, which begins this Saturday, January 7th, at 8 p.m. ET.:

I am humbled that Fox News Channel has given me this opportunity. I look forward to viewers entering my world more often and wouldn’t be in this position if it weren’t for Bill [O’Reilly].”

What do you think? Are you a fan of Watters’ World? Will you watch the new weekly program?
