It’s finally happening. The widow of Wheel of Time author Robert Jordan says the fantasy book series is coming to TV, The Wrap reports.
The 14-volume series began in 1984, with the final book being published in 2013.
The books take place in a fantasy world controlled by a “wheel of time.” The story revolves around the world’s inhabitants and the long fight between good and evil.
Jordan’s widow, Harriet McDougal, announced on Google+ the TV series is finally moving forward after years of development and legal issues:
Wanted to share with you exciting news about ‘The Wheel of Time.’ Legal issues have been resolved. ‘The Wheel of Time’ will become a cutting edge TV series! I couldn’t be more pleased. Look for the official announcement coming soon from a major studio.”
In February 2015, FXX aired an unannounced pilot for The Wheel of Time starring Billy Zane and Max Ryan. The pilot was reportedly aired only to retain the series’ film rights.
What do you think? Have you read The Wheel of Time series? Would you watch the TV adaptation?
