Look for Michael Trucco (Battlestar Galactica) to be riding a motorcycle in an upcoming episode of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory. He’ll be playing a project partner of Leonard’s who attracts Penny’s attraction. The episode’s expected to air later this month.
Tasha Smith (Boston Common) recently wrapped her role in the upcoming Couples Retreat. The comedy feature centers around four couples who go on a tropical vacation and get roped into therapy sessions. The movie stars Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jason Bateman (Valerie), Kristin Davis (Sex and the City), and Carlos Ponce (Lipstick Jungle).
Three TV veterans will be stopping by the CW’s Supernatural series, unfortunately we’ll have to wait awhile to see them. According to Entertainment Weekly, the January 22nd episode will be centered around magicians and will feature Barry Bostwick (Spin City), John Rubinstein (Day Break), and Richard Libertini (Soap).
Jon Huertas (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) has been made a series regular on ABC’s upcoming Castle series. The show follows a horror novelist who helps the NYPD solve crimes and stars Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Tamala Jones (One on One), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Dear John), and Susan Sullivan (The Nine). Unfortunately, ABC recently cut the show’s order from 13 to 10 episodes but it the show has been given premiere date: Monday, March 9, 2009.

Joel Gretsch (The 4400) has landed a two-episode arc as a psychiatrist on Showtime’s The United States of Tara. The series centers around a woman who struggles to find a balance between her identity disorder and being a parent. Interesting tidbit you may not know: Gretsch happens to be William Shatner’s son-in-law.
Laura Allen (The 4400) has been signed to join Cherry, an indie comedy written and directed by Jeffrey Fine. The rest of the cast includes TV show alumnai like Kyle Gallner (Veronica Mars), Esai Morales (Vanished), and Brittany Robertson (Swingtown).
A handful of TV veterans have been tapped to appear in the upcoming remake of the 1980 movie musical, Fame. Megan Mullally (Will & Grace), Kelsey Grammer (Frasier), Charles S. Dutton (Threshold), Bebe Neuwirth (Cheers), and Debbie Allen will all be playing teachers at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts. Allen played Lydia Grant in the Fame TV series but will be playing Principal Simms in the new movie.
Marisa Coughlan (Boston Legal) has booked a three-episode run on Bones on FOX. She’ll be playing an FBI agent and love interest for David Boreanaz. On the big-screen, you’ll be able to see Coughlan in the indie comedy called Poundcake alongside Kathleen Quinlan (Family Law) and Rob Bogue (Oz).
Josh Cooke (Big Day) has signed to co-star in a dramatic pilot called Lost & Found for NBC. The project centers around an offbeat LAPD detective named Tessa, played by Katee Sackhoff (Bionic Woman). After irking her commanding officers, she’s sent to work in the basement to solve John and Jane Doe cases. Cooke will play Max, Tessa’s psychiatrist who’s had a longtime crush on her.
Patricia Heaton’s been tapped to play the lead role in a sitcom pilot for ABC. The story will be told from her character’s point of view as a middle-class mom from the Midwest, not a far stretch from the character she played on CBS’ Everybody Loves Raymond for 200+ episodes. Production is expected to begin on The Middle in February. Stay tuned!
