Actor Chad Lowe (Life Goes On) directs his brother Rob and the rest of the Brothers & Sisters cast for the October 26th episode of the ABC drama. This won’t be the first time behind the camera for Lowe, having directed episodes of shows like Bones, Without a Trace and Law & Order: SVU. The B&S episode was co-written by Cliff Olin, the son of series co-star Patricia Wettig and executive producer Ken Olin (thirtysomething).
Oliver Platt (Huff) will headline in the upcoming Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls. Platt will play the singing lead role of gangster Nathan Detroit. Previews are scheduled to begin on February 3, 2009 with a March 1st opening.
If CBS’s struggling Friday night drama, The Ex-List, stays on the air long enough, you’ll be able to see veterans from several past shows. The list of Bella’s former boyfriends includes Michael Weaver (Notes from the Underbelly), Brian Van Holt (Threshold), Reid Scott (American Dreams), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary Journeys), and James Tupper (Men in Trees).
Kelly Hu (In Case of Emergency) has landed a three episode role on Lifetime’s Army Wives series. For the big-screen, Hu will soon be seen in the Dim Sum Funeral drama in 2009.
Bryan Greenberg (October Road) and Victor Rasuk (ER) have been cast as the two leads in an upcoming comedy pilot for HBO. In How to Make It in America, they’ll play two friends who search for success in the Big Apple.
Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1) has booked a multiple episode arc on USA’s Burn Notice.
Sean Maher (Firefly) has been cast in the new Lifetime series called Drop Dead Diva. The show’s cast includes Josh Stamberg (Courting Alex), Brooke D’Orsay (Happy Hour), and Kate Levering (Cashmere Mafia).
Brian Dennehy has been booked for a visit to CBS’ Rules of Engagement sitcom. He’ll play the father of one of the male stars. You may recall that, on NBC’s Just Shoot Me!, he played David Spade’s dad. This time, he’ll be playing Patrick Warburton’s papa, a real alpha-male and chauvinist. Rules is expected to return by midseason but may be back earlier if the ratings for freshman sitcom Worst Week don’t improve. Stay tuned!
