Women in Black: ABC Buys Dramedy About Four Widows

Women In Black TV show on ABC: canceled or renewed?

ABC has put Amy B. Harris’ Women in Black TV show in development. Harris was executive producer and showrunner on ABC’s Wicked City, the first TV show to be cancelled in the 2015-16 television season.

A widow-centric friendship dramedy, Women in Black comes from Jamie Tarses, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark’s newly launched Bluegrass FanFare production company, which is based at ABC Studios.

From 1996 to 1999, Tarses was President of ABC Entertainment. She was the first woman to hold the title and one of the youngest people to fill the job.

Here is more on Women in Black, from Deadline:

Written by Harris, Women In Black is described as a funny and touching exploration of four widows at very different ages and stages of their lives as they deal with love and loss, the challenges of parenting, the hilarious horrors of dating, and the joys of starting anew as they learn how to define themselves by the futures they create and the friendships they make.

Harris, who started her writing career on another show about four women, the hit HBO comedy Sex and the City, will executive produce with Bluegrass FanFare’s Tarses, Stuber and Clark.
