The X-Files: FOX Boss Talks About the Show’s Future

Will there be another season of The X-Files? Recently, FOX CEO Gary Newman discussed the future of the TV show revival, Deadline reports.

As reported earlier, star Gillian Anderson has said the sci-fi series’ 11th season (which just premiered on January 3rd) will be her last. The cast also includes David Duchovny, Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood, and Dean Haglund.

During this week’s Television Critics Association press conference, Newman said “it’s too early” to know if there will be a 12th season of The X-Files:

You could’ve asked Chris (Carter), David (Duchovny) and Gillian (Anderson) at various times since the show originally premiered whether they would do more. Some days you’d get a ‘yes’, some days you’d get a ‘no.’ I would not exclude the possibility that there would be more. But not only is there no plan, there hasn’t been a single conversation. It’s too early to even speculate.”

Earlier, series creator Chris Carter revealed he doesn’t have a plan for the future of the FOX series and hasn’t even considered it without Duchovny and Anderson:

For me, the show has always been Mulder & Scully. So the idea of doing the show without her isn’t something I’ve ever had to consider.”

What do you think? Do you watch The X-Files? Did you enjoy the season 11 premiere?
