The X-Files: Season 11; Updates on Who Will Write the New Episodes

What’s in store for the new season of The X-Files? Recently, Den of Geek revealed original writers Darin and Glen Morgan will return for season 11 of the FOX TV series.

After more than a decade off the air, The X-Files returned to FOX with new episodes last year. The cast included original stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, and Bruce Harwood.

In April, FOX announced they’ve ordered 10 episodes for season 11 of the supernatural drama. But who’s coming back? According to Den of Geek, veteran X-Files writers Darin and Glen Morgan will pen at least three episodes for the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, it looks like Vince Gilligan will again be unable to join the X-Files revival. Gilligan, who wrote on the original series, says he’s too busy with Better Call Saul:

You know, it’s heartbreaking to say, but it’s a bit of a moot point since I’m just too busy over here. And I want to stress and be precise that I haven’t been asked to be a part of it.”

However, Gilligan says he’d love to write for The X-Files again if his schedule permits:

Hell yeah! I’d love to work on The X-Files again. It was a wonderful job and I had some of the best years of my life writing for that show, learning to produce TV for that show, and learning to direct for that show.”

What do you think? Did you see season 10 of The X-Files? Will you stick around for season 11?
