FOX isn’t shying away from reality TV shows. Its Kicking and Screaming survivalist reality show kicked off in March. Now the network is introducing the You the Jury TV show, which is like The People’s Court — on steroids. Will the American television audience spend its Friday evenings watching and voting on real life civil cases? What’s the verdict? Will You the Jury be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A legal reality series hosted by Judge Jeanine Pirro, You the Jury features prominent attorneys Charla Aldous, Jose Baez, Mike Cavalluzzi, Benjamin L. Crump, Areva Martin, and Joe Tacopina arguing their cases before former California Superior Court Judge LaDoris Cordell. Afterwards, the FOX audience gets about five minutes to vote via text and the FOX Now App.
At the conclusion of the East/Central time zone broadcast, “America’s Verdict” is revealed. The vote is 100% live and binding. However, after the Mountain zone and West Coast votes, if the cumulative total leads to a different result, the original verdict is overturned.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
