Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous: Cancelled, No Season Two

zach stone canceledMTV has cancelled Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, their low-rated comedy, after one season of 12 episodes.

Zach Stone revolves around a young underachiever whose goal in life is to become famous. Starring Bo Burnham in the title role, the show also feature the talents of Armen Weitzman, Caitlin Gerard, Cameron Palatas, Tom Wilson, Kari Coleman, Shelley Hennig, Robbie Amell, and Rory Scovel.

Back on May 2nd, the comedy debuted to just 660,000 viewers. After the series fell to a low with episode six (334,000 viewers), MTV moved it out of primetime to 11pm. The numbers understandably got even worse.

The cable channel has chosen not to renew the series and will burn off the remaining episodes this week — one tomorrow night and the final two on Saturday night. Burnham believes they are some of the best of the series.

He also tweeted, “I am very grateful for and proud of the 12 episodes we’re were allowed to make. And thank you so much to everyone who has watched it. I have had an obscenely lucky life. I am in awe of being able to have made a show and share it with you. Enjoy the end Zach! (for now)”

In a statement, MTV said, “We are huge fans of Bo Burnham and the entire creative and talented team behind Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous… After careful consideration of many factors, we have ultimately decided not to move forward with an additional season of the series. We wish Bo, the cast and the entire production crew the very best.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of Zach Stone? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled and won’t be back for a second season?
