2 Broke Girls: Renewed for Season Five on CBS

2 Broke Girls TV show on CBS: season 5Yesterday, we reported that Mom (season three) and Mike & Molly (season six) had been renewed for the 2015-16 season. Now, CBS has made their renewals official and have also renewed 2 Broke Girls for a fifth season.

Airing Mondays, 2 Broke Girls, streetwise Max Black (Kat Dennings) and formerly-wealthy Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs) work in a greasy diner. The unlikely partners try to earn enough money to pay their bills and develop their cupcake business. The sitcom co-stars Garrett Morris, Jonathan Kite, Matthew Moy, and Jennifer Coolidge.

Year-to-year, 2 Broke Girls is down by 15% in the 18-49 demographic but up slightly in viewership, averaging a 2.1 in the demo and 8.29 million.

CBS RENEWS THE COMEDIES “MOM,” “MIKE & MOLLY” AND “2 BROKE GIRLS” FOR THE 2015-2016 BROADCAST SEASON

CBS announced today that MOM, MIKE & MOLLY and 2 BROKE GIRLS have been renewed for the 2015-2016 broadcast season.

MOM, the critically acclaimed comedy starring Anna Faris and multiple Emmy Award winner Allison Janney, is the fastest growing returning series on television. Currently in its second season, it is up +42% in viewers (11.89m), +16% in adults 18-49 (2.9/09), and +31% in adults 25-54 (4.2/11), compared to a year ago. In its Thursday (8:30-9:00 PM) time period, MOM ranked first in viewers, adults 18-49 (tie) and adults 25-54. It continues to perform strongly since moving to 9:30 PM, improving the time period in all key measures.

MIKE & MOLLY, currently in its fifth season, starring Billy Gardell and Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Melissa McCarthy, ranks first in its Monday (8:30-9:00 PM) time period in viewers (10.35m) and adults 25-54 (3.7/09), and second in adults 18-49 (2.5/09). Compared to the year ago time period, MIKE & MOLLY is up +20% in viewers and +6% in adults 25-54.

2 BROKE GIRLS, currently in its fourth season starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, kicks off CBS’s resurgent Monday lineup at 8:00 PM, averaging 9.58 million viewers, up +3% in the time period over “How I Met Your Mother” and its own year ago performance.

THE BIG BANG THEORY, television’s #1 comedy, is renewed through the 2016-2017 season as part of a multi-year broadcast agreement that was announced last year.
