Philadelphia is staying sunny. Deadline reports FXX has renewed It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia for seasons 13 and 14.
Created by Rob McElhenney, the comedy stars him, Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olson, Glenn Howerton, and Danny DeVito. Season 11 just finished in early March.
With 14 seasons, It’s Always Sunny is close to breaking to the record for the longest-running live-action comedy TV show. As of now, the 1950s series The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet holds the record with 14 seasons and 435 episodes.
FXX doesn’t seem to have plans to cancel It’s Always Sunny anytime soon either. Network executive Nick Grad said the series is one of their “most-loved”:
If anyone doubts the power of a camcorder and a dream, just look at It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which was a DIY backyard pilot when Rob, Charlie and Glenn brought it to FX and will go down in TV history as one of the most loved and enduring comedies. Few shows make it this far or have such devoted fans, and we owe it all to the creative vision and great humor of the creators and cast who keep Sunny fresh and inventive every season.”
Season 12 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is expected to premiere in 2017.
