American Crime: ABC Drama Series Gets Second Season

American Crime TV show on ABC: season 2The cast won’t be back but the show title will be. ABC has decided to renew their low-rated anthology series, American Crime, for a second season. The show currently airs on Thursday nights.

On the first season of American Crime, a home invasion in Modesto, California results in the murder of war veteran Matt Skokie and a horrific assault on his wife Gwen. Four suspects are brought into custody for the crimes. Though the suspects and the victims fit a profile, they and their situations are far more complicated than anyone would have initially believed. The cast includes Felicity Huffman, Timothy Hutton, W. Earl Brown, Richard Cabral, Caitlin Gerard, Benito Martinez, Penelope Ann Miller, Elvis Nolasco, Johnny Ortiz, and Regina King.

The series debuted in early March to positive ratings but they quickly eroded. Last week saw the series hit a new series low with a 0.9 rating and 3.63 million viewers. Despite a disappointing season of ratings, ABC is bringing American Crime back for a second season — with a new cast and storyline.

What do you think? Have you been watching American Crime? Did ABC make the right decision or should they have cancelled the show instead?
