Ryan Murphy is thinking about the future at FX. While he’s currently working on seasons two and three of his American Crime Story TV show (the topics are Hurricane Katrina, and the murder of Gianni Versace, respectively), he’s also got his eye on something a little juicier for a prospective fourth season.

Apparently, Murphy is eyeing the Monica Lewinsky scandal of the mid-1990s for American Crime Story season four. Murphy and FOX 21 Television Studio have reportedly optioned Jeffrey Toobin’s 2000 book, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President, for source material.

Another Toobin book, The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson, inspired the successful first season of this FX true crime drama series.

Here is more from The Hollywood Reporter:

Sources tell THR that Murphy and producers are fast-tracking the drama and already are meeting with actresses to portray Lewinsky and colleague Linda Tripp, who secretly recorded Lewinsky’s conversations about her alleged affair with then-President Bill Clinton. Lewinsky claimed to have intimate relations with Clinton between November 1995 and March 1997. The scandal and its repercussions included impeachment hearings. Clinton was ultimately acquitted by the Senate, while two other charges of perjury and abuse of power failed in the House.

What do you think? Would you like to see a season of the American Crime Story TV show focus on the Clinton – Lewinsky scandal? Who would you cast as Monica and Linda? Let us know, below.
