American Crime Story: FX Series References Tonight Show’s Dancing Itos

American Crime Story

Remember the dancing Itos? On this week’s episode of American Crime Story, the FX drama referenced the memorable Tonight Show with Jay Leno bit, The Guardian reports.

The first season of American Crime Story explores the infamous 1995 O.J. Simpson murder trial. The series stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Sarah Paulson, Courtney B. Vance, David Schwimmer, and John Travolta.

The episode, which aired on March 22nd, referenced the Tonight Show bit where several men dressed up as the trial’s judge, Lance Ito, and performed a showy dance number with a Marcia Clark stand-in.

The bit was just one of several Tonight Show skits mocking the lengthy Simpson trial. A mock-Gilligan’s Island opening sequence featuring the trial’s major players also appeared on the late night talk show.

The season finale of American Crime Story airs on April 5th on FX.
