American Ninja Warrior: Season Nine Ratings

American Ninja Warrior TV show on NBC: season 9 ratings (canceled or renewed for season 10?)

Two years ago, two American Ninja Warrior competitors achieved total victory in their Mt. Midoriyama climb. Last year, though, all but two were eliminated in stage two. Only Drew Drechsel and Daniel Gil entered stage three, and both would fall before completing the course, sort of like how the ratings fell. Can the NBC sports competition woo back some viewers? Will American Ninja Warrior be cancelled or renewed for season 10? Stay tuned.

Hosted by Matt Iseman, Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, and Kristine Leahy, American Ninja Warrior is based on the Japanese series, Sasuke. The NBC TV show follows competitors in series of obstacle courses in both city qualifying and city finals rounds. Contestants who complete the finals course in their area move on to the national finals round. In season nine, the show will visit Los Angeles, CA; San Antonio, TX; Daytona Beach, FL.; Kansas City, MO; Cleveland, OH; and Denver, CO, before heading to Las Vegas to take on the four-stage course that’s been modeled after the famed Mt. Midoriyama course in Japan. At stake is a grand prize of $1,000,000. **Update below.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

9/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

For comparisons: On NBC, the eighth season of American Ninja Warrior averaged a 1.75 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.281 million total viewers.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
