America’s Got Talent will return to NBC with a new season this summer, and there will be a new judge on the panel. His face is familiar to those that watch reality competition shows like American Idol and The X Factor.
Yes, Simon Cowell is coming to the NBC reality competition series this summer. Cowell announced the news himself on his Twitter on Wednesday morning, and the news has people buzzing.

After The X Factor was cancelled by Fox, Cowell went to work and stayed overseas. Now, he will offer his own brand of tough criticism to the talent that appear on American’s Got Talent next season.
Many judges have come and gone since the series premiered on NBC. Will Cowell stick?
Zap2It shared a Simon Cowell’s comments about the decision to take on America’s Got Talent.
“I am really thrilled to be joining ‘America’s Got Talent’ next season. What I love about this show is that it’s open to absolutely anyone. America has some fantastic talent just waiting to be discovered, and I would like that talent to come to our show, including any dogs who can sing!”
Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, also spoke about Simon coming to America’s Got Talent.
“Simon knows this format better than anyone and he’s been producing the show with us since the beginning, so we’re thrilled to have him to step in front of the camera and take his rightful place at the head of the judges’ panel. We welcome him to the on-screen NBC family.”
Cowell will continue to work behind the scenes as executive producer of the series.
