Software sales executive and Milwaukee-native, Nick Viall, has been selected as the new bachelor in the upcoming 21st season of The Bachelor TV series on ABC. Shocker: he is caucasian! The announcement was made tonight, during the Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise TV show, hosted by former View co-host, Michelle Collins, and franchise alum, Sean Lowe.

During the after-show, Viall admitted that while he is excited, he is also nervous. He ought to know what is in store for him. Viall was the runner-up in season 10 of The Bachelorette, featuring Andi Dorfman. He returned in season 11, as a spoiler for Kaitlyn Bristowe’s suitors and again finished second. He’s currently on the spin-off series, Bachelor in Paradise, during which Nick and Jennifer Saviano (pictured below) have been — shall we say — hitting it off.

SPOILER ALERT: We suspect Nick and Jen will not last.

Bachelor vets Ben Higgins and fiancée Lauren Bushnell Skyped into After Paradise to wish the best to Nick. Handsome Ben offered this advice: “Buckle up. Your life is about to change big time, but all for the better.” Their new reality series, Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?, premieres on Freeform, Tuesday October 11, 2016 at 8:00pm EDT.

As for his turn in the driver seat, Nick said, “I don’t know if anything really prepares you for it…. I’ve had an interesting journey throughout this process. It hasn’t worked out so far. Hopefully this time around maybe things will end up on a more positive note.”

Nick says he couldn’t be more excited about the possibility of it all working out. Time will tell, slick Nick. The Bachelor season 21 is expected to premiere in early 2017.
