Last year, FOX introduced a few new non-scripted programs, and the Beat Shazam TV show was one those which escaped cancellation. Now that the novelty has worn off, will fans return for the second season, or is this FOX TV series just a one-hit wonder? Will Beat Shazam be cancelled or renewed for season three? An interactive, musical game show hosted by Jamie Foxx, Beat Shazam features a group of two-player teams, who race against the clock, and each other, to identify song selections. Corinne Foxx has joined as the Deejay in the second season. During each round, Foxx presents a choice of two musical categories. The object is to be the first team to correctly identify the song’s title. While low-scoring teams are eliminated from the FOX game show, the team which banks the most money will ultimately advance to compete against the Shazam app, for a chance at a huge cash prize.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. For comparisons: The first season of Beat Shazam on FOX averaged a 0.87 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 2.827 million total viewers.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
