Starz has dropped some recently cancelled series from its streaming service. Becoming Elizabeth, Step Up, and Dangerous Liaisons were all cancelled by Starz in late 2022 and have now been removed from the channel’s service.
It is not yet known precisely why Starz pulled the two period dramas and the dance series off its service, per Deadline. The cancellations and subsequent dropping of the shows seem likely tied to Lionsgate’s plans to spin off its studio from Starz in the next few months.
This is the second streaming service to make such a move in recent weeks. HBO Max recently pulled Westworld, The Nevers, Raised By Wolves, and The Time Traveler’s Wife off its streaming service after those shows were cancelled. The company attributed their removals to tax write-offs. The word is that those shows will resurface on an ad-supported service in the future.
Over the weekend, HBO Max dropped 256 Looney Tunes shorts, as well as three seasons of The Flintstones.
