Better Call Saul: EP Has No Plans to End the AMC Series

Better Call Saul finished its third season last night, but what about a fourth season? Recently, executive producer Gennifer Hutchison spoke with TVLine about the future of the AMC TV show.

A spin-off of Breaking Bad, the comedy-drama follows Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), a down-on-his-luck lawyer trying to negotiate the ethical dilemmas of the legal world, emerge from his older brother’s shadow, and make a name for himself. The cast also includes Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Patrick Fabian, Rhea Seehorn, Michael Mando, and Giancarlo Esposito.

In the interview, Hutchison made it clear the season three finale of Better Call Saul is not intended as a series finale:

We didn’t talk about that. We’re always hopeful. We always hope to be able to tell the story, and hope that AMC will kindly allow us to continue.”

But is there an end planned for the AMC show? Hutchison says there’s no plan to end the series just yet:

Having those flash-forwards allows us the option to maybe delve a little deeper into the future. But there’s no explicit plan. Obviously, we talk about it, but we’re still kind of figuring out exactly, rhythmically, what this journey looks like. And even when we say, “Oh, we want to get to this point,” sometimes you get there much faster or much slower than you initially expect to.”

What do you think? Are you a fan of Better Call Saul? How many more seasons do you think it should last?
